Joel founded The Gear Owl to do the boring part of buying gear, the hours of research, so creators and remote workers don't have to. He is not a paid reviewer or a storefront. He digs through expert reviews, spec sheets, and thousands of real owner reviews to land on one honest pick per budget, and says plainly when something is not worth buying.

When we haven't hands-on tested something, we say so plainly. We would rather tell you the honest trade-off than oversell a product.
